Posted by Lauren Turner ‘A place for friends.’ That has been MySpace’s catch phrase ever since the social networking site was created in 2003. For five years, MySpace was the highest viewed social media site, even passing up Google. Then, late in 2008, Mark Zuckerberg took control when he created Facebook and completely pushed MySpace [...]
Reebok EasyTone Reeinspire II
And I’m back again with a new tale about a new pair of hip sneakers that keep your HIPS small. The Reebok EasyTone Reeinspire II are the best pair of shoes for the ‘lazy fit girl.’ Personally, I’m not really a super fan of working out, running, and the such. When I heard all of the ranting and raving about these new shoes that help to tone your booty and legs, without actually doing much, I wanted to know where to sign up!
Unlike many, I believed all of these commercials and reviews. It seemed to make sense, and I was at the point where the less I had to work out, the better. So when I was in Arizona, I decided to make it final and purchase the Reeinspire in a nice misty teal and silver.
Truthfully, when I walk, slow or fast, and rarely when I run (very rare!) I can feel an extra strong sensation in my calves and thighs. Before I got these shoes, I never noticed any burning sensation in my legs, and I believe it comes from these shoes.
Because I used to be a very extreme dancer, the arches of my feet, and ankles are very unstable and I always have cramps and pains. Once I started wearing these Reebok’s, almost all of my pain has gone away. I feel that these are very supportive shoes, and I really love them. They make me want to secretly work out more also, because with my tight yoga pants, I look real atheletic.
Now, when it comes to the money, honey, let me tell you all about how I practically got these shoes for free! I have two words for all of the brand name shoe lovers: Famous Footwear. I know many brand groupies don’t go to places like Famous Footwear, but really…why not? Shopping at stores like it, you can save over 50% on so many different styles, including the hot designer shoes. At the time of purchase, these sexy sneakers were going for $100.00. When I found them at Famous Footwear, they were only $49.99! Plus the extra 15% I recieved for being a frequent show buyer, I spent even less. GO THERE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!
I’d like to leave you with a thought on purchasing shoes. If you ask the retail salesman, they will let you wear the shoes on a treadmill, at home of course, to test out the shoes for a few minutes. I highly recommend that because some shoes are very comfortable when walking, but that almost always changes when you change speed and weight distribution. TEST THEM OUT!
Women’s Cloud Logo Authentic Original 2-Eye Boat Shoe
I’m BACK with a brand new pair of shoes. This one, I am very excited about because these are my most recent purchase. Due to the extreme amount of walking I have to do every day, I figured I should go ahead an buy a pair of shoes that will make walking more pleasurable. I have heard so many great things about Sperry’s and I didn’t know whether they were true or not. So like any good detective, I did a lot of research about them. After reading review after review, I found that the truth was: Sperry’s are great for people who are always on their feet. (and they’re very fashionable!) So I went online and looked around and was a little sad when I found out that all of the ones that I liked best, ranged from $80-$100. Buttttttttttt, because I am great at finding steals, I got my shoes and am still eating.
Regularly $90, I found myself a pair in dark brown with opal suede for only….*drum roll please*…$39.99! What a great deal! And let me tell you, I can’t take them off. I love these shoes. They are so comfortable, and ADORABLE. I wear them to teach, I wear them when I gives tours of campus, I wear them when I have to walk from one side of campus to the other in only 15 minutes. Here is a picture of them from online, but I also want everyone to know that they come in so many different styles and prints. Cheetah print, embroidering, different colored suede and leather, EVERYTHING.
The Latest and Greatest
Hello all! Sorry this blog has been sort of a drag…I haven’t had any new shoes to share with you. I was waiting for this day because yesterday, I received three pairs of shoes and I am so excited and ready to tell you all about them! GET EXCITED!
SO first on the list is one of my favorite pairs of shoes I have ever owned. As a resident of Colorado, and a student in Iowa, I am someone who understands the harshness that winter weather brings. And I for one believe that the colder your feet are, the colder you are. With this being said, the shoe we are talking about are UGGs. This specific pair were my first pair of the real thing. I have had them for two years and if it were up to me, I would keep them forever. They are the gray tall UGGs and I am wearing them always. The problem is, they have a boo-boo. Here’s the story:
One night, when nothing bad was going on, I decided to climb a short wire fence. Now keep in mind, it was dark and my high school days…which can be considered my most extreme times. So, as I am getting over this fence, my left foot gets snagged on the top of the fence and I fall, hanging only by my foot. Refusing to leave behind my $170 second-skin, I jumped up and and wrestled my boot away from the fence. Unfortunately…well, let’s just say..the fence won that fight. And now there is a strange hole in the toe of my FAVORITE boot. And if you look close enough, you can see my socks. Despite my mother’s advice, I have managed to get my younger sister to sneak them into my most recent care package, and now I’m back in them.
Take a look…
Saniya Studded Point Toe Flats
So we have to make a quick change. I know I said I was going to talk about boots, because of the season, but where I am, the weather has been in the upper 70s. So i need to have a little focus on something that I have been wearing lately.
These flats, are one of my favorite pair of shoes. They are an easy cognac flat, with these cute little gold studs on the back. I got them at Target a few years ago and they are still doing me justice. They were $15.00 originally, but I only spent $10.00 at the time. Side note: Target has the best sales on EVERYTHING. If you look at the discounted prices section, I promise you will almost always find a good deal. I can’t go into the place without having to buy something. Whether it is a top, a bag, a necklace, office supplies….it may be a problem. I could go on about Target for ever, so that may be meant for another blog (STAY TUNED). I digress.
I recently looked online to see how much they were now, and they are sold out. Which makes sense because every time I wear them, I get compliments on how cute there are, and all that jazz. These shoes have seen my high schools days, as well as my college life. And although they have no support, and kill me after a while, they are just so darn cute. I learned when I was very young, beauty is pain. Most people don’t associate flats with pain, but when you are chasing 25 kindergarteners around in them for 5 hours, you will understand. These shoes may be great with skirts, leggings, and anything denim, but they aren’t great for the classroom.
For next week, some investigative journalism may happen. I have been hearing a lot of talk about these new CROC flats that are actually really cute. I may try and find a pair slash speak to someone who owns them. I am so interested because I have promised myself to never buy CROC’s. Ever. Because they are ugly and gross. But…I have been standing and walking a lot lately, so they may be a necessity. We shall see.
Until then -

The Unnamed Boot
Back to the boots. This boot I am about to talk about is one of my favorite shoes in my closet right now. The reason for this is because it is such a versatile shoes. I can wear it out with a summer dress, I can wear it will leggings, I can wear it during the day, or at night, and almost in all of the seasons. It is really something that I think everyone must have in their closet in order to be ready for anything.
I got this shoe at JCPenny in Denver, about a year ago. It is a strange brand (St. John’s Bay) and I couldn’t tell you where to find it now. But what I can tell you is that I spent $50 on them, regular priced, and I have gotten so much wear out of them, it’s incredible. I had been looking around for a boot that I could wear as a transition piece into fall, and this was what I found. Although I am still looking for a brown version of my unnamed boot, I think the black is something that I should have and really can use.
Now I am 5’6″ and so a longer boot is good for me, but girls of a shorter stature should stay away from knee high boots. The reason being that they really shorten already short women. For those of you who are my in short readers category, I would look for something more along the lines of a bootie (with a heel) or flat ankle boot. The heel will always give more height, and the shortness will stretch your legs, making you look longer as well as leaner.
Here are two examples of what to look for. The first being a short brown flat boot with lots of cute decor and designs. This is great for fall, when it is just too cold for flats, but not cold enough for UGGs. The brown is perfect for an autumn color palate, and can always be worn with a knit dress, tights/leggins, and a cardigan. You can find this at modcloth.com for only $34.99.
The second choice is the heeled bootie, which are very in right now. These a little bit more dressy, sexy, and wild. Every girl has that side to her, and some nights, they really want to show it off. This is the perfect shoe for that. Often ranging in heel and platform height, peep toed or fully closed, and more recently, wedged or heeled. These loud red suede platformed booties will make the perfect statement against the fierce LBD (little black dress) every woman has in her closet. You can find these at GoJane.com for only $23.50 (which is a GREAT deal!!)
So I hope to hear that some of you have gone out and bought either one of these great steals.
Remember, feedback is always welcome. I would love to hear about what you want to read me talk about for next week.

Steve Madden Jessii’s Mid Heel Knotted Ankle Boot
Hello all! Sorry for the delay. Technical difficulties. So I am presenting you with two (that’s right!) shoes this week. And get excited…because we are headed into fall, we are going to zone in on BOOTS.
Our first pair come with a story full of sentiment. Now the only exception is, these shoes don’t belong to me. They belong to my roommate, who wishes to stay anonymous, but whose story is worth hearing. So story first, then shoes. When she was 17, she moved out on her own, and become completely independent. At that point her life, she was already sucked in to the wonderful world of shoes…which has a lot to say about why we get along so well! Anyways. She was out shopping, as usually, and stumbled upon a wonderful pair of brown booties. Now unfortunately, her priorities were a little jumbled, so instead of saving for college applications, she chose to purchase the shoes. In the end, she has actually only worn the shoes two or three times!
Now the details on the shoes:
Color: Cognac.
Price: $70 on sale.
Heel height: 3 1/4 inch heel.
These cute little things are made of smooth leather in such a stunning color. They are the perfect height for those who are to afraid of making the 5 inch heel commitment, but they have a sass about them. They look great with skinny jeans, jeggings, leggins, anything of that type, and look great with big flouncy sweaters, and tunic dresses.
Seeing as to how the fall season can get a tad nippy out, these are a easy way to stay warm, while still showing your style! If only I was a size six, they would be on my feet right now.
Until next time.

Peep Toe Bootie with Side Zipper
Our next shoe, is more fitting for the current season we are in. Booties are a new obsession that can only be done the right way. Now, Charlotte Russe is known for really cute shoes, that are unfortunately the kind of shoe you can only sit down in. They have styles for every occasion, colors for every outfit, and are made for the girl with attitude.
This particular pair of shoes was purchased in February for $40.00 at the Valley West Mall as a kind of therapy. My roommate and I just got some bad news earlier that day, so we saw it necessary to do some therapeutic shopping. The light taupe velvet sling back, with a peep toe, glossy heel, platform, and gold zipper stuck out among the hundreds of others. The shoe was made resembling a bootie, but as a sling back instead. This design holds your foot in just the perfect way…not to tight, not to high (3.5″), but with a ounce of support while still looking sleek and sexy.
Personally, I believe that nude anything, is a very good look. But nude AND a peep toe, now that is what dreams are made of.
Jessica Simpson CALIE
Newest shoe first.
As you all may know, Jessica Simpson hasn’t really been very popular in the music world lately. So like any self-respecting fashionista, she turned to designing clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories. Although many times, the lines put out by singers aren’t always affordable, or wearable, in this case, Jessica did a great job at creating a line that is something that many want to own.
I purchased these shoes in late July at the nearby Macy’s, on sale for a great price. Usually, the Calie style goes for $79.00, but I got a great steal…only paid $45.00 for these lovely heels. The shimmery patent leather in a delicate nude pink tone caught my eye, along with the simplistic design. No crazy straps, or wild platform, just a simple 3.9 inch heel, a nice rounded toe, and plenty places to wear them.
When I find a pair of shoes that compliment my many personalities and styles, I take advantage of them. These shoes bring out the delicate side of me…the girly lace, muted tones, white summer dresses, open backs, and glistening legs. Unfortunately, winter and fall do not agree with that type of color palette, so for now these beauties will have time to rest until the snow thaws and the flowers bloom.
why you will LOVE this blog
First thing is first. I need to introduce myself to my soon loyal readers. I am taking on this blog as a type of therapy because shoes have a very large impact on my life. And for some reason, that doesn’t seem sane. I am a student at Drake University currently studying Elementary Education and Magazines. This blog happens to be a major assignment for my magazine class, but instead of doing the same mundane topics, I thought I would write about something that actually interests me. If you haven’t already noticed from my blogs name, I am crazy about shoes. I love wearing them, buying them, looking at them, feeling them, and everything in between. In my opinion, shoes can make or break someone. They can give an outfit exactly what it needs to go from alright, to show stopping . And above all, shoes make women feel good…and why wouldn’t you want that?
This is going to be a journey into a closest consisting of more shoes than clothes. And in college, having a closest the size of a high school locker, creates a major problem for me. So I hope you will join me, whoever you are, on this mess of a ride.
ta ta for now!
